Observe consequence → identify cause → choose rewind point → change one plan → compare timelines
After a quest, relationship or political outcome reveals information you did not have earlier
A concrete lesson from the current timeline and an earlier decision that can use it
The new branch contains a different informed choice, not merely the same sequence replayed
Make a useful rewind
Name the outcome you want to change: death, failed quest, damaged relationship, political loss or a missed route.
Find the earliest decision that caused it, not simply the last screen before the result.
Record the new knowledge that the previous timeline revealed.
Use the demon to return to a point where that knowledge can change dialogue, assignment or preparation.
Change one causal decision and keep the rest stable when possible.
Compare the complete new branch, including Treasury, faction, Knight and future-quest effects.

When a rewind is worth it
| Situation | Useful new knowledge | Better next attempt |
|---|---|---|
| Quest failure | A stat, trait or preparation assumption was wrong | Change the Knight or cover the demonstrated weakness |
| Knight death | The route or assignment carried a fatal condition | Avoid the cause or accept the death only for a deliberate branch |
| Relationship loss | A dialogue or ruling changed satisfaction | Use the new context at the relevant earlier conversation |
| Kingdom crisis | A faction or Treasury threshold mattered later | Preserve more support or money before the crisis arrives |
If the new timeline is worse
Compare the total cost, not the single saved outcome. If the changed choice creates a larger political, financial or roster loss, keep the original branch in mind and rewind again only when you can test a different cause.
Time rewind FAQ
Is rewinding required?
No. The system can be used selectively; a run can continue without correcting every bad consequence.
What survives a rewind?
The strategic advantage is knowledge from the discarded timeline, which can open or reframe earlier choices.
